at the moment my T is really really bad it is a really loud hissing noise,
like a toilet cistern filling up..the weird thing is that when it gets like
this it affects all that side of my face, sort of a tightness and I get a
headache that side...anyone with similar experiences?

Hello, Jenny,

I'm no medical expert, but this sounds similar to what I
experienced when I suffered an attack of Bell's Palsy. The
Seventh Nerve enervates the entire side of the face, and
during the attack and, in my case, permanently afterwards
since I suffered nerve loss (a small percentage of Bell's
patients see some damage to the nerve, but the vast majority
have complete recovery with no second attack).  My symptoms
were the tightness, symmetrical, exactly one side of the
head.  Indeed, tightness is a perfect description, as it is
hard to describe.  Your "headache" I suffered, too, but it
was more of a nature of "prodrome", or sensation of viral
infection, I believe.  It is uncomforable.  It hurts, but
doctors don't seem to understand and can't offer any relief.
During the Bell's attack I heard all sorts of noises, but
primarily water noises.  I suffered tinnitus before and have
suffered tinnitus afterwards, so I personally don't think
there is a link between my tinnitus and my attack of Bell's.

Our resident expert on tick-borne diseases will testify that
the first thing you should ask your doctor is to test you
for exposure to the spirochete.  Susan?

This is just my experience.  My tinnitus was caused by
noise, I am sure.  Cover all bases when at your doctor's office.

Best wishes,

scp

Do you have animals, birds, mice?  Deer don't bring the ticks, they just host
them a lot.

Not just borrelia, but also other tick borne diseases and other infections.  I
experienced right side facial numbness and tingling alongside my tinnitus.
Both were part of the acute onset of late stage CNS Lyme and other tick borne
diseases.

I believe that Bell's Palsy is caused by TBDs most of the time, since these
diseases are so ubiquitous.

Good advice.  Get as thorough an infectious disease evaluation as is possible,
and do your own research on neuroborreliosis and tinnitus, hyperacusis, hearing
loss and Bell's Palsy.

Bell's palsy, migraine, ...? Or maybe just neck tension occurring as a
response to the tinnitus.

Or neck tension causing the tinnitus.
