Can someone please tell me what treatment there is available for TMJ?
My T has been really bad for the last month or so, and now I ( and others)
can noticably feel how bulging my tmj is on the T affected side...I had an
Xray for tmj once and it showed nothing, but the naturopath said it is
uscular and wont show up on Xray...is there such a ting as a TMJ specialist?
I Am in Australia so any American contacts wont be any good to me
unfortunatley.
My T started the night after i chewed toffees in bed and I woke up with a
sore jaw...maybe its related, a glimmer of hope atleast.

Hi! I was in a car accident and suffered TMJ damage. My dentist treated me
with anti-imflammatory drugs but they didn't do the job. He then sent me to
see a Prosthodontist who specialized in TMJ treatment. It took a long while
but things improved with the treatments. I hope you can get the help you
need.
All the best,
Nick

You are wrong. Send email to Murray in alt and if the advice turned
out to be good, send in a check of whatever you think is appropriate.
That is the proper attitude of obtaining advice online. The other
alternative is to visit a local doctor in Australia. I believe the
doctors in Oz are about as good but you have to run into someone with
rich experience, and 'sober'. After all, the Oz are heavy beer
drinkers.

There is an excellent description of TMJ at
http://www.DrJimboyd.com/book/Title.htm
Very long - but most informative.
Somewhere on the main site are addresses for dentists in Australia.

oh and btw my comments on all aussies are alchos and all americans are one
crack, was no way a dig at anyone else, I am just in absolute awe at the
ignorance of francispoon...yes and we ride to work in the pouches of
kangaroos too.
when I said Am in Australia so any American contacts wont be any good to me
>>unfortunatley...I didnt mean in any way to imply U.S Drs couldnt help me,
it is just a fact..I am in Aus, and so far I havent found anyone who is
willing to even recognize TMJ......maybe if they had a couple of beers they
might be more open minded.
Francispoon get your head out of your a.s...and just because your having an
argument with someone else, don'ttake it out on a whole country,

try http://www.ent-consult.com/tmjrelief.html
in any TMJ problem the muscles are unbalanced. When you open your mouth you
observe that you open to the side. Getting the muscles balanced is the first
step.
Avoiding unnecessary tension and spasm is the second step and can be done using
a mirror as a biofeedback device.
Reducing inflammation is also a help. Many antiinflamatories work, including
Aleve and Clear.ease.
