I'm in my 60's and have had tinnitus for quite some time. Lately it is
getting much loader. I am also losing my hearing in the upper frequency
range - where the ringing is.
This may be a stupid question, but are the two related?

The less ambient noise you hear, the less your tinnitus will be masked so
yes, the two are probably related.

They can be related in two different ways. You may just be bothered more by
the tinnitus because there isn't as much sound in its fequency neighborhood to
mask it or compete with it. Or, you may have something happening that is
causing both the hearing loss and the tinnitus.
