During a recent exam by my ENT, I asked him whether stem cell research
might some day produce a cure for tinnitus.  He told me that he had
been studying this quite a bit and feels the related area of Human
Growth Factors could very well result in a cure for this malady and
predicts this will come within the next 10 years.  Has anyone else
heard or read anything about this?  I Googled HGF and came up with
several hits linked to scientific studies, but none of these
specifically cited tinnitus.

He is probably talking about research on regeneration of inner ear hair cells.
This may well produce a cure for many types of tinnitus.
