Sounds interesting and hopeful.

If it cost a lot, private health insurance would cover most of it, wouldn't
it?.

If it does what it says it does after 6 months there may be a lot of second
hand ones around, but they may have to be changed for the individual.

apparantly in Aus you can claim $800 back from the goverment..hold on I'll
paste the letter Paul Davis sent me...
Thanks very much for your interest in ADP.

The treatment is a six month-long process with around 8 hours in the
tinnitus clinic and the home use of your own highly individualised processor
at those times when normally you would be disturbed by your tinnitus.

The cost for the whole package is comparable with that of a pair of
mid-priced digital hearing aids. There are currently no medicare or health
fund rebates for the treatment, but it is subject to the safety net tax
rebate of around $800, and pensioners are given this amount as a discount
instead.

In the first instance we offer a self-contained assessment session in which
I measure your hearing, tinnitus and sound tolerance levels, then integrate
these test results with a comprehensive case history to determine what has
caused and exacerbated your tinnitus. An explanation of this is provided and
your most appropriate treatment options outlined. This hour and a half long
assessment session costs $170, and is subtracted from the cost of the ADP
package if you go ahead with it.

If you would like to book an assessment session, please call the clinic on
9266 3436. We also hope to run information evenings soon for both those
afflicted with tinnitus and separately for the relevant health
professionals. Would you like ot be placed on the list for one of those?

best wishes,

paul davis

from another newsgroup.

There are some decent quality samples of this cd here:

http://www.synchronicity.org/Products/Meditation_Music_by_Artist/Tony_Oconnor.aspx

Maybe you can put these on repeat and see if they help...

3-4 hours per day for 6 months is the initial Neuromonics protocol I
believe.

This is extremely expensive, 90% of people can not afford $5000 for the
treatment.

Something needs to be done, either reducing the price or government support.

I think paying something like $1000-2000 would be more appropriate.

Please dont be money hungry and give help to the people that need it so they
can have a better life.

Many thanks

This is very interesting although apparently only available in Australia
and very expensive currently.

Does anyone understand how the music fits in with the masking? The
Neuromonics web site says: "...the acoustic stimulus is provided in the
context of music which promotes relaxation and positively interacts with
the limbic and autonomic areas of the brain, which are regarded as key
contributors to the disturbance associated with tinnitus."

Would it be possible or desirable to simulate this to some extent by
mixing one's own masking sounds with some "relaxing music"? Seems like
it would be easily doable with audio software.
