A different antibiotic?

After two weeks on Ciprofloxacin, one week rest and one week on
Cefuroxime, my sinus infection, while still on Cefuroxime, has even
got worse and is going down again to my chest.

What are my alternatives? A different antibiotic?

I feel bad but I know it could get worse. Should I just stop taking
antibiotics and see if I can recover on my own?

I am certainly irrigating frequently. What I do do is to blow,
sometimes forcefully, it is the only way I feel I am getting rid of
the dirty stuff inside.

Thanks,

Antonio

You could try one more antibiotic--Levaquin.  Even though it's in the
same class as Cipro, it's got better coverage, according to my ENT.

If that doesn't do it, it's time to see an ENT, get scoped out and CAT
scanned, and find out what's really going on inside your sinuses.  If
your sinuses are physically blocked by cysts or polyps or mucoceles or
even a deviated septum, then throwing more and more antibiotics at it is
worse than useless.

Hello,
Why are you trying to waste his money?
An MRI is better, because a CT scan
often overlooks calcification.

Hello,
I donot know about any other anti-biotic you can take, however i must admit
that is extra, very thoughtful of your Doc to give you such a personalized
(and free at that) lesson on what anti-biotics to you when you have a fungus
infection.
