Why not blowing strongly?

antonio salcedo - 01 Oct 2004 11:00 GMT For me, only when I blow strong does the pussy stuff, sometimes, come out. Especially after irrigation.
If I don't blow or blow softly, nothing comes out.

ENTconsult - 01 Oct 2004 16:04 GMT Any pressure above 10 PSI can blow pus into healthy sinuses and into the ear. I have an entire chapter on why you shouldn't blow your nose hard in the new book. Blowing your nose hard is exactly like rubbing your eyes hard. This is probably the reason why you haven't gotten well in the first place. Are you using Hydro Pulse irriagion? Regular irrigation won't stir up the cilia as well. Murray Grossan, M.D. http://www.ent-consult.com

The resulting feeling of cleaniness is much more thorough.
The way I've seen it is that blowing is somewhat like the suction my ENT uses to drain the sinuses (although I agree less localized). I don't quite understand how it can contaminate other sinuses. It looks I am wrong and will likely get the book to learn better.
I do use your irrigator, combined at other times, with regular irrigation from a glass.
Thanks,
Antonio
dball63 - 05 Oct 2004 16:47 GMT I feel the same way. Hard blowing is the only way I feel that the stuff will come out. Irrigation doesn't do it.

My new ENT, who seems to be very knowledgeable, says that blowing hard is good, because it is the only way to get the crusty and stuck mucus out.
For the same reason, he says, that irrigation is much more effective when the solution is applied with some pressure, instead of just snorting it or letting it circulate lightly inside the nose.
Johnny1000@webtv.net - 07 Oct 2004 00:08 GMT ..I'd get a new ENT. ....I've had a couple of major flair-ups in the last 5 years. ...Without question, both were instigated by my throwing caution to the wind, and snorting the mucous out from the depth of my soul (soles?). ...I would think if you irrigated properly, the crusty, stuck material should dissolve by itself in the salt water. ...You have to be patient, though... Irrigation helps the cilia do their job; however, It was sometime after I first started irrigating before people quit asking me if I had a permanent cold.. ...Jon

The irrigation only gets to the entrance of these sinuses. It only cleans the outside, not the inside. Irrigation does soften the mucus around the entrance to the sinuses and that is when some comes out on its own or, when you blow harder. Does it make sense?

Does it make sense? Hello, Lie on the bed on your back; hang your head over the side; drop a dropperful of Liquid Vit. E into each nostril; with head still hanging over the bed; turn to the left; then to the right several times; stay doing that (back, side to side as long as you can); then while pinching closed your nose; bend over as far as you can with the top of your head pointing to the floor - hold that position as long as you can; the remaining oil that runs out; work into your nostrils. When you feel something going on deep in your nose - blow . . . As one man said, "It was like giving birth through my nose". The scabs/scaling that comes out can be larger than quarters. Robitussin has the best remedy: it is the green label and has exacly one ingredient (GUAIFENESIN). When my family Doc treated my sinus infection, she gave me "Liquibid-D SA"; it is GUAIFENESIN . . . This stuff liquifies thick mucous or: makes mucous watery so that you can get it out in a normal, natural manner . . . instead of using a self-contaminatig contraption that you cannot sterilize, with which you re- contaminate your sinuses, inner ears, eyes, brain and every thing else in your head while you are at it . . . For salt- water solution, i use a sprayer that i can throw away, even soaking things in alcohol willnot properly clean instruments used to irrigate - they must be boiled or worse: pressure cooked etc. Oil slips into places where water cannot get. How often do you replace your tooth brush? Do you know the rules on replacing tooth brush? Why should it be any different with instruments you use to shoot water up into your brain . . . Some of the crusting in the sinuses can be hard as stones, thick as your nares, and large as a silver dollar. Water nor oil can soften them, however the oil can help you get them slippery enough to where they will start lossening up and you can feel that, and that is when you start blowing carefully but in a determined manner. Lean over when you blow, and instead of giving one hard blow, try short determined blows as long as you can feel movement in the nose. If all you have is "sticky" mucous, think Robitussin, and that will send it down the back of your throat as a rule. Salt-water solution is ok, however it doesnot do much, and if you donot know what you are doing you can force infection into places where it doesnot belong. They found that same thing was happening with colonic irrigation with the bowel - they too used to be all the rage; now you never hear about them anymore, and that is what irrigation up the nose is: a colonic irrigation of the nose (: just trying to paint a picture (: + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + http://www.biblebelievers.org.au/benjamin.htm MustRead! http://WWW.PAMINIFARM.COM "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge" Hosea 4:6

I have actually being looking for something that liquefies the mucus.
I will try to find Guaifenesin in London, UK.
My case, as per my next message, needs all there is out there.
Thanks,
Antonio

Pamdomania - 09 Oct 2004 01:44 GMT Hello, http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=GUAIFENESIN Here is a good link to see that GUAIFENESIN is very, very easy to get from the Information Highway. Robitussin, the one i like, is "liqued". I hold it in my mouth as long as i can before swallowing it - guess why? You should do the same, aside from dropping it up your nose which of course is a no no, and since it works through the blood stream (i suspect) yakkitty, yakkitty . . .
