Rhinocort question

I refilled my prescription of Rhinocort and used it for the first
time, neglecting to throw away the old bottle (which apparently has
run out of the active ingredient, budesonide.) Now I don't know which
bottle is which.

Such is the world I live in.

If I take the recommended dosage (two sprays/nostil) with both
bottles, will I see any adverse effects? Is this a really bad idea?
How can I tell the difference between them, since they both have the
same expiration date?

And, yes - I am a complete idiot.

Can't you tell by the weight and what comes out?

Can you shake them and feel a little difference in the weight? You can also
float them in a sink of water...one will sink...and for the life of me I
can't remember which one...empty or full. Trudy.

I use rhinocort and I can see how much liquid is left in the bottle when
it's running low.  It's how I decide when to refill the prescription.  You
should be able to do the same.

you are supposed to count the number of sprays used. each bottle
contains a certain number of 'metered' sprays. there is always more in
the bottle than the number of metered sprays, but my understanding is
that once you use beyond the number of metered sprays you can't be
sure how much stuff the dispenser pumps out when you 'push the
trigger'. it seems like a bottle that is running low squirts out a lot
MORE stuff when you try to spray it out and it doesn't disperse/spray
like it would when it is full.

bottom line, you could be getting too much/too little if the bottle
has run low.

can you tell by feeling the weight of each bottle - by shaking it to
get a feel for which bottle contains more fluid and would be the new
bottle?

Each bottle should have an expiration date on it.

It's a good bet that the bottle with the earlier expiration date is the
old bottle.
