I have used it many times and found it fairly successful for nasal
congestion but I have not used it for eustachian tube congestion.  Sometimes
it takes a couple of days to work but there are no side effects.  It seems
to work better for me than any other over-the-counter remedy available in
the UK.

sudafed is an excellent product for nasal congestion . It has no antihistamine
action.
If you have elevated blood pressure or a rapid heart, speak to your doctor
before taking this.
some persons have difficulty falling asleep with this.
for the average Joe, it is OK.
whether it works for you depends on your particular problem.

There is a kind of sudafed called "moisturizing" - large
blue capsules - I find it works just as well and doesn't
dry out my throat.

BTW, I can take it in the morning, but not again in the
evening or I wont be able to sleep.  But even once a day
helps a lot when things are bad.

at what dosage do you guys take it? my nasal congestion is just ok but
my ENT told me that my eustachian tube blockage is due to mucous
residing on the uppe part of the nose near the eustachian tube opening
so nasal irrigation can't reach it.

If the mucus is thick, it is coming from the nose. Probably from poor cilia
function.
Its usually not mucus sitting there, its a generallized condition that includes
swellign of the eustachian tube opeing. Some suggestions at
www.ent-consult.com.  this is why tea, lemon helps - thins the mucus and
encourages cilia movement.

Sudafed works "okay". Phenylpropanolamine (the old contac) worked much
better. But it was abused in massive doses in diet pills and some of
the abusers had strokes. So the idiot FDA instead of taking the diet
pills off the market, took the nasal preparations off the market too.
So the 99.99% of us who didn't abuse it now have to suffer miserably.
Sudafed does not work worth a $&#@ for a cold.

Dr... is there a prescription med that works better?
