Steven,
I took Ketek about one month ago (a ten day course) after having been
on four antibiotics in about five months. I tolerated the Ketek well.
It seemed to clear up my active infection within 4-5 days. I had a
new infection (mostly infected post nasal drip) with 1-2 weeks of
completing the course of antibiotics (as a result, I wish I had
received a longer course). I am happy to see another antibiotic
option as I have developed some sensitivities to a few antibiotics and
some just don't seem to be effective.
I am new to the forum, but have read your messages with interest. As
a result of the forum, I have been trying the Grossan sinus irrigation
for one week and I think it is starting to help. If nothing else, it
is rewarding to see it work out some of that colorful mucus that was
otherwise just becoming post nasal drip.
Out of curiousity, in a post from 2003, you mentioned that you were
having some tests done related to your immune system. How did those
turn out? I have CVID (low IGA, IGM, and IGG) and get monthly
infusions (IVIG).

The final test I had was a challenge with a specially prepared PRP (H.
influenzae) vaccine. I reacted well to it--antibody count went up
dramatically. And based on that, my immunologist concluded that my
borderline low IGM components weren't worth the cost of IVIG infusions.
OTOH, I am chronically borderline anemic--a consequence of no red meat
in my diet plus periodically bleeding hemmorrhoids and anal fissures.
And that has made me more susceptible to infections--I get boils on my
skin all the time. After I have fully recovered from my surgery, I am
going to get a colonoscopy and find out what's going on down there.

I do not eat red meat. Just have meat or fish once a day- tuna fish,
salmon, turkey, or chicken.
My MD advice- take supplement of B-12 and 1-a-day multimineral vitamins
I have not been anemic for 2 years now..
