Hi, I am new here and have been having terrible frontal sinus headaches
Been on antibiodtics for four weeks (2 kinds) and nothing. Had x-ray and
it shows a mucus membrane cyst in my right cheek sinus. Anyway, that is
not the part that hurts. It is over my eyes that is killing me. Anyway,
have to have a CT scan on Tuesday. What is this membrane and how did it
get there? Could it cause the pain over my eyes also? Doctor is talking
about irrigation or scope.
Any help???

Sounds like a nasal polyp. Google for "nasal polyps" and you
could learn a lot. Never heard of them being called cysts so
maybe that's something different.

That is the ethmoid sinus.
The cheek sinuse are the maxillary sinuses.

They're common. Once you have sinusitis in one sinus, it will eb no surprise
if you have it in others also.
The CT Scan should show it if so......

The most common mode of spread from sinus to sinus, is between the
maxillaries and the ethmoids. Spread to the frontals (behind one's
forehead) is less common.

Ask your ENT if the cyst is also referred to as a Mucocele...it is
different than polyps. Then do a search on Maxillary Sinus Mucoceles and
read all you can. The CT scan should show the real problem and then
treatment can begin. Good luck! Let us know what happens. Trudy.

type "sinus retention cyst" in google and do some reading. Most of
them are harmless unless they are causing symptoms or blockage of the
ostia. I have one in each maxillary sinus and my ENT is not concerned
about them.
