Can anyone tell me what sucesses they've had with non-steriodal
anti-inflammatory medications or supplements to reduce inflammation of
the sinuses?

Specifically what did you use and what doses?

Hello,

There sure are a lot of them out there!
Learn all you can about each one, and apply. Try them all; pick your poison,
and use it until you get a reverse reaction to it, then just go on to the
next one. Another trick to prevent "reverse reaction" is to use them all
alternately. In other words (for example): use aspirin for a month; then
tylenol etc. for a month; then the prescription drugs and on and on. Donot
forget diet and Homeopathic methods for an occasional break for the body.
JOKE:
A woman was walking up the sidewalk, where she saw a man beating himself
in the head with a baseball bat. She said to the man, Why are you beating
yourself in the head with a baseball bat?" The man answered, "Because it
feels so good when i stop" . . . (:

Hello,

First thing for anyone with sinus trouble is to use and eat natural, organic
yogurt.
You cannot handle milk? Tough luck; there is no replacement, so try
the trade off, because perhaps you have allergy to begin with because
of the fungus.

Most fungi simply colonise the sinuses and sit there without causing any
inflammation.
Occasionally the fungi may invade the mucous membranes and provoke intense
inflammation
and allergic response. Even more rarely the fungi may invade the bones of
the facial skeleton
and damage blood vessels and nerves, even extending to the eye and brain

Therapy for the Amphotericin B deoxycholate, nose spray is:
3 months;
5 squirts each nostral;
2 times aday;
Another Possible Procedure, however using ONLY the 10-squirts worth, and
only done twice
aday, and remembering this MUST NOT be swallowed;
http://www.digitalnaturopath.com/cond/C55833.html
The Sinus Flooding Procedure:
a. Lay on a bed face up with the head hanging over the edge of the mattress
so the nostrils are
pointing straight up toward the ceiling.
b. Use an eye dropper to fill each nostril with the rinse solution. Keep
filling each nostril until
the rinse solution starts to drip in the throat. Remain in the same position
for 2 to 3 minutes.
c. Roll over on the stomach and let the head flop forward over the edge of
the mattress. Remain
in that position for 2 to 3 minutes then sit up and let the rinse drain out
through the nose.
(THIS FOLLOWING DOESNOT APPLY TO US AT THE PRESENT AND/OR UNTIL AN
ACTUAL "WASH" IS MADE AVAILABLE)
d. Important: Repeat this procedure 45 minutes later. The two rinses 45 minutes
apart constitute
a single rinse session. Perform two or more such rinse sessions per day.
Relief will typically be
noticeable by the second day. It is not unusual for the sinus infection to
be gone within three
days.
e. Repeat two sessions per day until the infection subsides. Very persistent
infections may
require five to seven day or more.

Amphotericin B deoxycholate nasal spray/wash is shipped in a cold pack and
must be kept
refrigerated. Only a one month's supply at a time is available, because it
is so perishable,
however i finally found a "Dixie" Mayo Clinic near me and am now using the
"wash", not
"drops", and is $50.00 cheaper than the above-mentioned drugstore.
`````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Here are interesting statements i saw while rushing through the Internet.
It is nice to know if you
absolutely must put your life at risk with Amphotericin B, you can quickly
get off of it :
?Surgical treatment is mandatory. Initiate medical treatment with systemic
antifungals once
invasion is diagnosed. Amphotericin B (2 g/d) is recommended; this can be
replaced by
ketoconazole or itraconazole once the disease is under control?.
AND AGAIN:
?Acute invasive fungal sinusitis
Emergent treatment is necessary once this condition is suspected. Initiate
systemic antifungal
treatment after surgical debridement. High doses of amphotericin B (1-1.5
mg/kg/d) are
recommended. Oral itraconazole (400 mg/d) can replace amphotericin B once
the acute stage
has passed. Treatment of the underlying immune deficiency, if possible, is
desirable.?
The last thing i must say is unless you are on your death-bed,  use Amphotericin
B only as a
nasal spray/wash, because it can and has caused heart attack when taken internally
http://health.yahoo.com/health/ency/adam/003504/treatment
http://www.umc-cares.org/health_info/ADAM/Articles/003503.asp
Another thing: they say the body doesnot absorb the amphotericin B nasal
wash from the nose,
however i amnot nursing one hurtfulashell Gout, which i have never had in
my life, for nothing. I
called the Jacksonville drugstore and asked if Amphotericin B causes Gout,
and the liars said,
no, and here is your proof that it does (hyperuricemia shows up as Secondary
Gout) under
Adverse Reactions (at the bottom, last line of the fine print):
http://www.cancernetwork.com/drugs/Abelcet.htm
Here is a picture of what i now look like:
http://www.aafp.org/afp/990215ap/925_f1.jpg
As soon as i stopped my Amphotericin B nasal wash, my sinuses showed yellow
discharge; the
Candida/Aspergillus is enjoying the lull, and i have now made an appointment
with the Mayo
Clinic, since this entire thing is their findings.
A lot of them are going to be higher risk then the steroid sprays, in my
opinion.   The NSAI's are going to be systemic.   The steroid spray is almost
completely  local.
Some sinusitis sufferers also have Samters Triad (I do) which means they
are allergic to ASA, have Asthma, and Nasal Polyp Disease. Some are
allergic to NSAID's as well(I am)so they are not candidates for any
non-steroidal treatment. It would be interesting though to find out if
people are finding relief with these sprays verses steroidal sprays.
Trudy. Have you tried Clear ease Lozenges? These are papaya and pineapple
enzymes and they reduce swelling, esp in the sinuses and TMJ. Let me know if
you want to try this.
Dr. Grosssan, I have not tried these. I know my sister uses papaya to ease
acid reflux, does it have other qualities to offer? Where do you get them?
And most importantly...if you are allergic to ASA and NSAID's are they
safe? Thanx! Oh, I am trying the raw cherry juice every day for awhile to
see if that helps. My sister insists it heals EVERYTHING...lol. I did work
at an orchard for a bit and customers came in and said it works
miracles...so we will see. Trudy.
Raw Cherry Juice! Hmm, sounds good. Never, ever heard anyone mention
that. What kind of action is it supposed to have?
iamthezookeeper - 02 Sep 2004 12:10 GMT
100% Tart Cherry Juice mixed 7 parts water to 1 part concentrate is
supposed to have anti-inflammatory compounds called anthocyanins. Research
at Michigan State University showed these compounds to be 10 times more
active than aspirin without the side effects for people who are allergic
to aspirin. It has better protection for artery walls from plaque build up
than vitamin C and E. Tart cherries also have high levels of melatonin and
is readily used by the body. Melatonin is another anti-inflammatory,
antioxidant, and helps sleep patterns. It is also high in (POH) perillyl
alcohol, a natural compound that inhibits tumor growth. And it tastes
great and can't hurt at this point. My customers used to come in and say
it cured their gout, arthritis, and a myriad of other ills. I finally got
curious recently when my sister started working at the store at the
orchard (here in Northern Michigan, cherries is what we do best!), and she
insisted these people were convinced this stuff was great. So I will give
it about six weeks of adding two glasses a day to my diet and see what
happens. Will let you know if any changes. Trudy.
If you are allergic to aspirin and other related products Clear.ease - papaya
and pineapple is OK oto take.
Clear ease is just papay and pineapple enzyme and can be ordered at
www.hydromedonline.com
Very interesting that your sister uses papaya enzyme for reflux. The theory
here is that the sphincter is swollen and therefore can't funtion well. The
papaya enzyme reduces the swelling and hten the sphincter works better.
However, Clear ease is taken via buccal pouch - melt in the mouth and is not
swallowed.
Murry:
Would these perhaps help with significant congestion in the nasal
passages? Not a lot of mucos, just lots of congestion.
Thanks!
No, Clear ease does not reduce nasal swelling. It has no Afrin effect. It is
primarily for sinus swelling/ pain and to thin the mucus. It can reduce
inflammaton to open the sinus openings but it doesn't shrink like Afrin.
Dr. Grossan,
I'm sorry, but I just can't understand this reply.
you say 'clear ease does not reduce nasal swelling', but then go on to
say 'it is primarily for sinus swelling/pain and to then the mucus.'
I'm confused.
