I'm only 18 and my allergy's have been the worse this year than any other
year :(.  I'm leaving for the army soon and was wondering wether I'm a
canadate for FESS surgery.  I use Rhinocort and irrigate everynight.  But
I still have horrible post-nasal drip everynight and end up having to
cough or push up phlegm from my throat 24/7.

Would it be best to get surgery or should I tough it out for a few more
months?

Also, for anyone who's been in the army, would they continue your allergy
shots either during or after boot camp?

Thank you ! :)

It is extraordinarily important to get a solid diagnosis before doing anything.

Unless you have had a CAT scan, and endoscopic exm by an ENT specialist, the
answer to your question is unknown.

You could have an infection or just inflammation or asthma or bronchitis
or.....

So you need to be sure - I would get a second opinion, fom a major University
medical center ENT department if possible.

It could be hormonal imbalance at this stage of your life which
worsen the problem (there always more pimples at this age, and they
dissappear later on) . Its wiser to toughen it out for a few years.

Surgery cost money and if it goes wrong (and it can go wrong) it will
put you through hell this life.

Have you tried claratyned? its allergies tablet which my niece took
for her problem and it helped.

Surgery is more for polyps, blockages and sinus pain.
There are many drugs which will help clear infection and reduce discharge.
