I was wondering if anyone has some advice for me. I just had sinus
surgery a month ago and am experiencing my second infection post-op.
Prior to the surgery, took 21 days of antibiotic (Levaquin) and was
given 10 days of Biaxin to follow the surgery. Five days postop
developed severe bronchitis and was taken off Biaxin and changed back
to Levaquin for another 10 days. Just finished that prescription
about 2 weeks ago and now have another severe sinus infection. So bad
that I ended up in the emergency room 4 days ago with massive
headache, fever, dizziness, and nausea. That doc prescribed Keflex
but I don't think I'm any better, still have headache, sore throat,
lots of bright yellow and green gunk in my nose and throat. Going
back to see my primary care physician today for a followup.
Seems that the doctors keep throwing antibiotics at a reoccurring
infection that just isn't going away - any thoughts on what I should
ask them to look for? Btw, I've been using the Grossan irrigator
since before the surgery - which seems to help but hasn't done much
for me this time.
Any help would be appreciated!!!

If your infection has been with you for a long time, it takes an extended
course of antiBs to clear it - 21 days seems about right.
All you can do is;
1. Irrigation to keep good hygiene.
2. AntiB to get at the root of the infection.
As long as the gunk drains naturally, the infection will eventually clear
up.
Regards David.

Immediately after sinus or septal surgery the cilia are inactive but usually
slowly return. If yours haven't returned despite pulsatile irrigation try to
find the reason:
regular salt? need to use Kosher salt or Breathe.ease
Compresses to the sinus area?
8 glasses of tea/ day
exposed to any fumes? You are much more sussceptable now than before to any
fumes
Ionizer? that may be irritating>
Look for a cause.

It's entirely possible that what you are experiencing is simply a
flareup of the same chronic sinus infection that caused you to need to
have surgery in the first place.
Be patient.
I developed a nasty post-op flareup of my chronic sinus infection
immediately after the surgery, and it lasted for MONTHS. But it healed
eventually.
