for the 2nd year running  - both times starting in april/may - i've got
TOTAL
nasal congestion, runny nose and am sneezing pretty much 24/7.  it is
wiping me OUT.
i'm otherwise very healthy/fit, i eat well (further, am now cutting out
wheat/dairy/eggs/soy
to see if that helps this #$*%& sinus problem) and live in a fairly
clean and clutter-free house.  i do not tolerate
antihistamines/decongestants/nasal sprays well at all  -
they make me angry, crazy & my heart and brain race like a bunny on
speed - and right
now am just burnt out. am feeling depressed, tired, fed up. can't
breathe, work,
sleep, concentrate & my whole life revolves around kleenex!

what i'd like to do is move out of this city (apparently one of canada's
worst for allergies)
as i am convinced that this town just becomes 'toxic' during the humid,
allergic
summer months. i can't go thru this yr after yr, so would like to MOVE.
somewhere else
in canada, into the u.s. or even overseas.
does anyone have info about where in the world - if any - the so-called
'best' places are
to live for sufferers such as ourselves?  i've heard that cities
spanning the rocky
mountain area are a good bet? how about drier, more moderate climes?
(whichever
cities those are)? something by the ocean? somewhere out of n. america?
i'll go anywhere.
or is the problem coming soley from within, making relocating pointless,
as each locale would have their own allergens w/ which to contend?

thanks.

The first thing you should do is get tested for allergies by a
board-certified allergist.  Find out just what you're allergic to, so
you know what you need to avoid.

If you are suffering from allergies due to allergens that grow in humid
climates (especially mold), then you should consider a dry climate like
Arizona or New Mexico or Alberta.

But I would suggest calling an allergist in the area you're considering
moving to, to ask about the local allergens in that area.  You might be
allergic to something like grass pollen, in which case you will be
hard-pressed to find a place where there are no lawns--maybe a good desert!

Unfortunately, people who are prone to allergies can easily become
allergic to new allergens.  So you might feel pretty good in your new
environment for a while--until your body starts developing an allergic
reaction to things in the new environment too.

thanks for the reply steven.
i do have an appt w/ a v. good allergist here in town, but he's booked solid
til sept...by which pt i'll have gone loopy for sure, so am trying to get
something earlier.
i thought AZ & NM were no longer the fabulous asthmatic/allergic retreats they
once were...i'd heard that the great onslaught of wheezies and sneezies who
moved there in the 70s and 80s instituted a brand new surge of mold and pollen
with all they plants and flowers they brought w/them.
at this pt i'm thinking that the only safe zone is the antarctic...though w/
my luck i'd develop an allergy to ice.

thanks.

BTW, you may have an allergy to A now and it will go away by itself in
time and you might develop and allergy to B. So if you moved to avoid A
to a place which has B would you move back?
