I had sinsus surgery three times-but the problem in not completely solved.
I  have been  doing nasal douhing for last two year-in the morning and
evenings. I prepare a fresh solution each time consiting of half teaspoon of
salt and brown sugar each, and a quarter teaspoon of Sodium Bicarbonate,
disolved in boiling water , which is eventually cooled down with tap water
to comfortable level. I douche by sniffling in the solution from my hand,
and finaly breathing out the rubbish.
My ENT consultant  considers, that I am managing my problem, pretty well. He
was not able to recomend any of irrigation appliances, as he though it will
not benefit much.
Could someone explain the advatage of buying expensive gadget over the
simple method used by me.

Please forgive me for saying this,
I have to cringe whenever people speak of expensive gadgets that cost !/2 as
much as a week's supply of antibiotics or two weeks supply of secial sprays.
And costs less than one visit to the doctor .
Heck, the price of the nasal spray WITHOUT benzalkonium costs less than it
costs to park at some offices!

I am against sniffing for several reasons:
a. the pressure is all over the place
b. unless it is done correctly - 5 PSI and in rhythm to the cilia - it may not
be helpful
c excess pressure can be as harmful as rubbing your eyes too hard.

Suggestion: there is a bibliography of 20+ articles at www.ent-consult.com re
pulsatile irrigation. why not download them and discuss these with your doctor?

What about tea? Are you drinking enough to help your cilia?

Mohan, you should seriously consider pulsating irrigation.  It's
my opinion that you will be very pleased if you invest in a Hydropulse
Irrigator.

There is no comparison regarding the performance of the Hydropulse
and the procedure you have indited above.  Sure, I would like to see
the Hydropulse sell for less; yet, I must say, the money you invest in
a Hydropulse will pay dividends to you in the form of more healthful
sinuses.  The Hydropulse put my sinuses back on the road to recovery.

Mohan... If you added a little soya sauce, your irrigation formula would
sound like what I use when I smoke salmon. ...Never heard of "brown
sugar" added to any formula before.   What is the reason for using it?
