Bactroban Irrigation Destroyed My Sense Of Smell

I tried irrigating with Bactroban solution, on the advice of an ENT.

10 minutes after I used it for the first time, my sense of smell totally
disappeared, I got a post nasal drip (mild though).

So I stopped using it.

That was two days ago.
And my sense of smell has not returned.

Anyone else have this problem with Bactroban, either irrigation or by
putting the ointment directly inside the nose?

Can you give details of how you used it
how much did you add to what
was it the Bractoban cream or ointment or nasal?

A small dab of Bactroban ointment dissolved in 16 ounces of saline water
in my Hydropulse irrigator.

I deliberately used only a small dab because I was worried about
possible side effects.

Looks like I was right to worry.

I seriously doubt a small dab of Bactroban would have any significant effect on your
smelling unless the loss had something to do with the irrigator treatment process. As
part of my treatment plan for colonized staph I've used intranasal Bactroban ointment
swabbed very lightly in my nose twice daily for 2-3 weeks at a time - numerous times
with no permanent negative effects. YMMV
