As many of you know I have been advocating stop the overuse and abuse of
antibiotics.
But its me vs billions of dollars of advertising and 80,000 salespersons that
call on doctors daily about their drugs.
I would like to enlist "the public" in a movement to spread the word against
the overuse of antibiotics. Information you don't see in the popular press:
incidence of breast cancer is in proportion to the amount of antibiotic use
incidence and severity of urinary tract infections is in proportion to the use
of antibiotics for sinusitis
Studies show little difference in outcomes where antibiotics are pitted against
placebo in certain trials
Asthma is associated with excess antibiotics.
Persons die daily because the bacteria have developed resistances.
I am looking for a name, like MADD - mothers against drunk driving
or
SOAP'M Stop Overuse of Antibiotics Personally Movement.
With this movement hopefully we can get the kind of publicity that is needed.
So, give me a good name, slogan , etc.
this is not a money thing. This information can be spread word of mouth and on
internet.
Thanks
Hopefully we can get many persons involved just like the MADD people did.
Reducing the abuse of antibiotics might save your own life someday.
In the 50's , anyone with sinusitis cleared with antibiotic. Today. no.

How about:
ARM ... Antibiotic Reduction Movement
ENTconsult - 19 Mar 2004 17:28 GMT
ARM is good. Antibiotic Reduction Movment
I am considering
Discourage
Overuse of
Antibiotics
Now
Today
DOANT
this applies to overuse of antibiotics in cattle food too.
Please, more suggestions.

Or simply DOA ( Discouraging Overuse of Antibiotics )
I was thinking, too, of:
ASAP ... Americans for Slowing Antibiotic Prescriptions
But, it is limiting when the cause goes international.

How about
DOAWN ... Discouraging Overusing Antibiotics Wordwide Now
ENTconsult - 20 Mar 2004 05:23 GMT
DOAWN ... Discouraging Overusing Antibiotics Wordwide Now
this is a better slogan, but I was hoping for a catchy name. At this point
DOANT seems catchy and memorable like MADD.

I have an acronym that encapsulates the whole idea from
start to finish: STOOPA
Okay. If you DOANT like STOOPA, how about this TLA:
Stop Antibiotic Misuse
SAM will fit nicely on a sign or bumper sticker and it's not
overly catchy. Personally I would rather hang out with a nice
group like SAM, than a bunch of MADD DOANT people ;-)

Thanks Larry. these are good suggestions
Please evaluate
ZAAP
Zapp antibiotic abuse personally.
To encourage and empower each person to tell others not to abuse antiotics.
They may directly save their own lives by reducing antibiotic bacteria.
