My nose has been clogged on and off for years. Sometimes its not to bad.
I had a few infections each year. Pain/pressure in upper rear teeth.
Anyways I found a ENT that a friend had, He said he would look at me at
a discount rate because I have no insurance. He did the office visit and
a endoscope to see inside my nose. He said I had polyps. He said I
needed a catscan. The hospital he knows gave me a discount for that. It
came back and he said one side was blocked badly (maxillary) The other
sinuses were not to bad. He said the septum is a little bent. He said
the best thing is to fix that and remove the polyps and one other
shrinking thing I cant remember. I cant afford it. Lets just say he said
over 10,000.00 So the only option is steroid nasal sprays (He gave me
free bottles) or He said he might do just the polyps as long as I
understood that it may only help a little since he would not be doing a
100% removal. It would be a local in office operation. The nurse said he
only did one other person like this and it worked great. She had no
insurance and he removed some polyps and it opened her up. The sprays
work sometimes. And I know he is helping me out. Most Doctors would not
do this at all. He has done about 800 sinus surgerys. He told me it is
not normal practice to just do this. But I cant live like this. So if he
does the local and removes the polyps what should I expect? He is
basically doing a charity case for me. Has anyone had a local pain
killer and done this? Is it worth doing? Any ideas would be grateful

Have you thoroughly researched all possibilities for getting insurance?
In quite a few states now there are guaranteed issue pools. There may still be
a one year waiting period for pre-existing conditions though.
Medicaid and Medicare may apply in some situations.
