If mucus pools on the side that you sleep on the blockage is quite
likely not in your nose.
You might have a sac of goo swinging back and forth from an attachment
on the back extremity of your nasal septum.
This you can treat in time release fashion with what you hold in your
mouth.
Try using a pepcid complete and vitiman C tab together as lozgenes.
After a few minutes you will feel a pulling from the area where your
goo is attached. Let is soften up, sniff and spit. Not a cure, but a
help.

Swelling and pooling is 90 percent on the left side. I mainly sleep
on my right side. The time release pill that works best now is
Pseudophed. I get relief in 10 minutes with Afrin. I can't see how
Pepcid will help the nasal passages. I will try the Vitamin C thing -
anything is worth a try. It really is not a sac - it is nasal
membrane that is totally full of mucus. I noticed the blocked nasal
passage thing when I was 13 - 45 years ago. The only way to wring out
the mucus is with the chemicals that I described. when I use Afrin, I
can feel the relief when the mucus is secreted and runs down my
throat. I just want to know of something that will be more effective
for long term usage.

And I could theoretically say
"Just try it Fred. What do you have to lose."

O.K. As you said, I have nothing to loose plus they are very mild
drugs that don't have side affects
