After 5 surgeries and 20 plus years of infection I still experience a
great deal of congestion and pain.  My ENT says my sinuses are open
and no further surgery is indicated.  There is scar tissue and
inflamed membrane and PND which I treat with irrigation and Nasonex.
During flare ups I experience increased pain behind my ear and in the
back of my head down to my throat which is sometimes so harrowing that
I find it unbearable. It is somewhat relieved by coughing up mucous.
My ENT referred me to a neurologist to check for migraines and he
thinks I have glossopharngeal neuralgia related to my sinusitus.  He
is treating it with Cymbalta which aside from being an antidepressant
(I am only depressed when my disease becomes unmanageable) can
interrupt the pain cycle....Does anyone else have a similar pain
pattern or diagnosis?? judyj

There is a set of sinuses behind the ear. Try holding a Pepcid
Complete and a Vitamin C tab together in your mouth for an hour and
you will feel pulling from the area of infection. (This is real
pulling the bacteria manufacture amyloid fibers to hold themselves in
place they are electromechanically attracted to the light metals in
the Pepcid and the tensile stress developed can be large. If you have
an infection in your sphenoid sinuses you will feel it.
