A couple of different approaches.

After 5 years of chronic repspiratory problems resulting from poorl
treated sinus infections,I no longer have confidence in doctors to d
anything other than standard protocols. Like Truehawk, I have spent hours
possibly days, researching pub med as well as Google's "Scholar" an
carefully experimenting with certain treatments I could get ingredient
for myself. Macrolide therapies are widely researched and seem muc
overlooked by primary physicians. In 2006 I followed my own protocol o
taking 500mg azithromycin (Zithromax)every Mon, Wed, Fri for 4 months
Afterward, I felt wonderful, energetic, full of life and I thought I wa
cured until 2 or 3 months later when infections and my asthma returned
For a long time I resisted another attempt, but after even more positiv
research, I started another regimen of azithromycin in April
Anti-inflammatory or biofilm destroyer, it is working, and since I take
single Enzymatic Therapy probiotic "pearl"tablet daily, I have had zer
digestive problems. My plan is to reduce the frequency to 2 times a wee
in June and then once a week in July. At the end of July, I may continu
this weekly dosage.
My current list of other tricks for managing symptoms are the following:
Morning cocktail of:
(1)600mg NAC, (2)QBC,(1)Gingko (2)St. Johns Wort
This is a cocktail that effectively loosens night-time congestion. 1 cu
of organic coffee helps too.
Daytime: Irrigate 1 time during the day with solution of isotonic salin
+xylitol +JJ "Baby Wash" (wash doesn't have dyes like the shampoo)
Sometimes add 2ml of generic acetylcysteine solution(like Mucomyst) Thi
solution really clears out the sinuses.I am able to order this online a
it is OTC in Canada . These are 10ml glass vials sterile solution. Als
nebulize with this if my chest seems congested. These are pricey at abou
$11 a vial. Tried making my own solution but it was just too strong.
Magnesium Citrate 50mg tablets are terrific for relaxing bronchia
constriction and opening constricted sinuses. Can take these an hour apar
without laxative effect.
Guaifenesin 200mg tablet also good. Look-up in Wikipedia. It is a muscl
relaxant and really does more than just act as an expectorant
Veterinarians use it as an anasthestic for some animals.
5mg Zyrtec twice daily
1 red 30mg pseuodephedrine (lasts 2 hrs for me) when needed. I do not fin
the 12-hr version as predictable.
Also I run 4 air filters 24hrs a day.
Thanks to everyone. I am constantly learning from this support group.

It would be more effective to have a whole house filter.

Whole house filtration isn't practical since our home is heated by in-floo
hydronic radiant. We do not have central forced air ducts.
