Well, I'm sure there is a more PC way to state the subject, but what the
hell....

I started getting a sinus infection a week ago and it's worsening each day
now.

This morning, I blew my nose and the stuff was more yellowish where
previously it was clear.

I think I've read in the past that this means there is an infection and that
it is bacterial. But I also remember reading that the color is NOT
indicative of it being viral or bacterial and I also remember reading that
color means nothing at all.

Could someone enlighten me on the latest regarding ...THE COLOR OF SNOT

MEL (trying to be humorous but actually quite miserable and frustrated!)

Just keep it washed out.  Use a lavage and keep washing until the
color is clear.  Do this several times each day.  Usually, you get
your worst colors in the morning when you wake up.  The lavage will
clean everything out and it will feel a lot better.
Good luck
