I know I've asked this question before, but maybe someone has some fresh
ideas. My nasal passages are perpetually clogged. I use a saline solution
twice a day and a little flonase during the day to clear them. When I go to
sleep I suck on a menthol cough drop. That seems to help a little, but that
might be damaging me. Last night I swallowed it by accident and it burns
ever so teensy when I swallow. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being the
lowest, the pain is a 1. Ideas, thoughts....
Thanks

If you swallowed it--it went down your esophagus, not your
trachea--relax. Any irritation will heal. Take some liquid antacid
(e.g., Maalox) in the meantime.

Do you use a prepared saline solution that contains preservative such as
benzalkonium? That could be the cause of your symptoms.

I use a saline solution of equal parts sea salt and baking soda. Are you
the Grossan who makes the Pulsatile? I use it and it works like a charm.

Glad you like the Hydro Pulse Murray Grossan, M.D.

Sea salt has been studied for sinus irrigation and found superior to
other irrigation solutions, we've seen in studies posted here in the past.
I use it. So far, no fish in it.

I use Afrin spray sparingly. Be aware that overuse will cause a
rebound affect. I just use one spray in the closed nostril and things
start to drain. You might use a steroid to clear up any
inflammation. There is a COPD drug called Ipratropine Bromide that
drys up the nasal membrane to a point where things are bearable. I
ahve had no side affects using this mix of meds.
