When I get discolored post nasal drip from sinusitis, I can feel it
almost burning in the back of my throat and even my larynx.
Besides the thick mucus being physically irritating, does mucus from
sinusitis contain chemicals or antibodies that are inflammatory to
mucous membranes?
Dr. Grossan, any thoughts on this? Exactly what does mucus from
sinusitis contain that might inflame the tissues of the throat and larynx?

In addition to the liquid that flows down your throat there is also the
material draining through the lymphatics that swells the throat and causes
these symptoms.
This is why pulsatile irrigation should include the nose and the throat.
When used for snoring, it is the throat irrigation that reduces the throat
edema/swelling as well as clearing the PND.
