I go into hospital for an op on Tuesday (Deviated Septum and sinus
opening) typically over the last couple of days I have been all bunged
up with a lot of stuff going down my throat - but as of yesterday I
have also been getting an awful headache on the top of my head where it
feels like someone is stabbing me - it comes and goes within a few
minutes or so and comes back later in the day...could this be sphenoid
sinusitis?

I suffer with anxiety though I am not worried about my operation at all
- but this headache is like something I haven't had before.

Sinus pain if often "referred" it shows up in places other than the
actual sinus--I've had pain in the top of my head from sphenoid and
ethmoid issues, It doesn't necessarily mean infection, just some
inflammation or blockage.
If you're having a lot of junk coming out, it could be all blocked up.
Perhaps your surgeon would want you on antibiotics before surgery--
infected tissue is harder to work with.
They're all linked to a common drainage path, so you could be
blocked up.

Doesn't seem to be a bad infection in terms of lack of green gunk (just
clear) I just wonder if anyone else gets this kind of headache - it
seems i can feel it each time that I swallow too, maybe i'm just losing
it!
