Whenever i eat something (almost anything) , it triggers mucus and
that is why my nose is always slightly congested, ever since i was
young (im 21 now) . And when i lay down the congestion gets worse.
usually worse in my right nostril!
so what does this mean ? that i have allergies to almost all foods?
I've never had a sinus infection that i know of... I don't get colds
and i have never had a headache, but my nose is almost always slightly
congested. Only vegetables, fruits and raw grains like oat sproats
don't trigger any(much) mucus.
So i'm wondering... if i get a neti pot or some nasal irrigation
device and use distilled water and celtic sea salt or something will
that help you think???
DOes anyone else have a problem like this?

Yes. Certain foods make my nose run. I was told by my allergist that it is
most likely vasomotor rhinitis. I'd speak to your doctor about it - it
could be other things too.

It;'s likely that you have sinusitis and that your sinus is full of mucus.
When you eat, or otherwise stimulate mucus flow, it comes out.
Check with a sinus or ENT specialist to be sure.....

Does it matter what the temperature of the food is?
It's not unusual to be sensitive to hot food and/or to cold food.
I have long since stopped eating anything cold. I haven't eaten ice
cream in years.

Hi Castlef,
I have a similar problem. It seems to me that the mucus glands simply
over-react in your case and mine; they are just badly tuned, rather like the
carburettor of a car. (My left nostril is worse than my right.) I am at a
loss to know what to do about it having been suffering since I was a kid
(I'm now 52). I have come to the conclusion it is hereditary, as other
family members have similar symptoms, although nothing as severe as mine.
Sorry, I know this doesn't help you much, but at least you know you're not
alone!
