...and my Q: I want to use some probiotics to offset the carpet
bombing of amox. Do I wait until the 2 wks are up, or is it okay to
take l.acidophilus and a few others while I'm taking amox?

Anyone have a good line on this stuff? Of course, my doctors have
NEVER mentioned probiotics when they put me on antibiotics. I guess
it's not in their training, or they were told it was alternative New
Age hooey or something. I don't know.

Take it now. In fact, try to space it apart from when you take the amox.

Works well for me to prevent antibiotic-induced diarrhea.

Thanks for the responses, Steven and truehawk. Ever since I came down
with this NASTY case of sinusitis a week ago I've been reading this
group and I've found it very informative. And the FAQ deserves kudos,
too.

Why only take one? I'd take the maximum dose, along with yogurt, kefir, FOS,
and whatever else in the line of active probiotics you have or like. This
will reduce your chances of developing intestinal problems. I would try and
rotate the intake so you are not taking the probiotic at the same time as
the antibiotic. AW
