I have been sick for more than 2 months, I went to a family doc and he
thought I probably had a deep sinus infection, based on swollen glands in
my neck and slight cold symptoms now and then. So I took Zithromax for 11
days.
But I'm still not feeling OK. So I went to a doctor again. She said I
was still congested but didn't want to give me more antibiotics, I guess
she figured 11 days of Zithromax ought to do it.
She told me I shouldn't be taking pseudoephedrine, that it would dry out
my sinuses.
I thought pseudoephedrine was a good thing in sinusitis, decongestant,
ought to help prevent re-infection, help things drain, and so on. I
thought antihistamines have a drying effect but pseudoephedrine doesn't.
Was she right that I ought to quit the pseudoephedrine?
I had sicknesses that were probably deep sinus infections for years and I
managed to not have them for many years, I've always thought it was
because I took pseudoephedrine as soon as I started feeling bad from my
allergies. Prevented some little passage inside from getting blocked and
infected, probably. So I think of pseudoephedrine as a friend in
sinusitis.
She recommended I try nasal irrigation for 3-4 weeks, see if that helps.
I have the Hydro Pulse device, so I'm irrigating twice a day.

I was always taught, decongestant unplugs, antihistimine dries..
