Dryness  and irrigation

I've been back to work for 2 days now and my bloody nose is back. I
thought it was from my nasonex.  I always knew that it was dry at work
but have never had the contrast until now.

Last night i used the neti pot with the salt and it just seemed
dry..but very clean.  Is there anything that is more moisturizing that
can be added?  I thought that i read some where about adding a couple
fo drops of glycerin??

My head was clear until i came back to work and the dryness stopped it
back up.  Now i have green mucous again. I have about 4 more days of
the Omnicef.

Thanks

How about water soluble K-Y jelly or a vaginal moisturizer?  Seriously,
these should last and won't cause pulmonary problems.

Also, a little xylitol in your irrigation solution might help.

Try 10,000 iu of vitamin D3 gel caps, too.  If it's going to help, you
should get giant gob of drainage within hours and the next morning.

I've used some vaseline around the edges or neosporin, but this is up
higher.    You are talking about using the jelly after irrigation? It
just feels or seems like i want the moisture higher than i'd want to
stick a q-tip. It may help with the bloody nose though.   It maybe a
feeling i have to get used to.  The only thing that i can compare it
to is when your hands are dry and you can't wait to get some lotion on
them. It feels that way under my eyes but internally.  Not painful..
just annoying

Yes, I'm talking about using a Q Tip to get it up there; your cilia will
move it further inside. That's why you're never, ever supposed to use
Vaseline or any petroleum product in or even around your nostrils; it
can end up in your lungs and can't be cleared.  K-Y and vaginal
lubricants are water based and won't cause pulmonary problems.

Any way to put a humidifier in your work place?????

Lots of people -- whose initial reaction is that they can't -- really
CAN figure it out.  For the dry eye people that I know who've done
this, for example, the diff has been night and day.

In addition to Susan's suggestions, incidentally, there are products*
that might give you some relief.

Best of luck....

Neil

My only issue with Ayr is the use of BK as preservative (at least they
used to), Murray Grossan sells a gel that is propylene gycol based,
and so does Simple Saline--I called them and they sent samples.
Apparently lots of people who use CPAP for sleep apnea use their gel.
Personally: I do the bactroban with a q-tip. I get it up there, and
squeeze my nostrils to move it around. It works well for me. I try not
to overdo it, because of resistance, but it has headed off infection
for me.
A desk top humidifier is great idea: just clean it well, or it's a
mold machine. I have warm mist ones at home, but they're a bit
dangerous--they make steam.
 Feel better.

Neil,
I should have checked out your link: no more BK!!
Sounds good.

I didn't realize that they HAD used BAK -- my nemesis!!  Glad they
ended THAT.

I tend to use food grade hydrogen peroxide if/when I run a
humidifier.  If I didn't have access to that, then I'd use some
regular old 3% HP.  I haven't seen much downside, and -- even the
'console model' humidifier I had when living in the NE ran for months
and months that way and never showed a hint of The Nasty.

I may be able to get one and bring in. I just have a lot of computer
equipment.  I'm just hoping that i'm not getting worse again before i
get better.  I'm getting a massage tonight and she will work some
things for me. I'll do my best to get some good sleep tonight.
