Hi. I have sinusitis for 3 months now. I took an nose x-ray and it
says there that I have congested maxillary sinuses, more left than
right. I went to the specialist than and he said that I have acute
sinusitis, but because it lasts for 3 months now, I think it's
chronic. Symptoms that I experience are congested (stuffed) nose,
headache and sometimes slight fever. All blood and nose tests are
normal except IgE test where it says that I have 305,00 ng/ml (normal
is up to 100 ng/ml). I now wait for the allergies tests.
My question is this. Could my sinusitis be not because of the allergy
but because my tooth? I took an panoramic dental x-ray and I have to
go to specialist with it to hear what he has to say. I uploaded my
panoramic dental x-ray picture on the web at following link and if
anybody has time, knowledge or will, to tell me if my sinusitis is
caused by some kind of tooth infection. Thank you in advance.

I cross-posted your query to sci.med.dentistry
They might have somebody over there who can interpret this photo.
In any case, when I tried to access the photo, it told me that the
server is unavailable. I'll try again later.

The pan appears within normal standards regarding the teeth. The foramen
for the maxillary sinus are pronounced in addition to the sinus vessels
which generally indicates a higher contrast. Since no contrast medium is
used this could indicate concentrated sinus fluids. I would recommend
looking into an ENT that packs the sinus and then removes the packing to
physically remove the contents.
The first molar root apices on the left side may be inside the sinus and
this could allow referred pain from the molar even during mastication
which not a true issue.
I personally prefer limited meds and increase on natural rinces such as
"seawater" or similiar before thinking about surgery which can always be
an option. If an allergy the results will be temporary but it allows
relief until the allergin is identified.

Thank you for your time. I am seeing an ENT specialist today to hear
what he has to say. I am just curious, what kind of allergy lasts for
3 month in winter with this strange symptoms(congested nose, slight
temperature)? And also, I am 22 years old and this is the first time I
experience such long lasting sinusitis.

I am an engineer, not a doctor of any kind, so take my comments as
obversational rather than diagnostic.
Looking at the top 1/5th of the shot, starting a half inch above the
teeth, it looks like you have a lot more dense matter in your sinuses
on the left side of the x-ray, that would be your right hand side,
than on the other side.
There is also a shadow above the 2ed tooth from the middle on your
right, but on the whole it looks to me more like a sinus infection
rather than an infection that came up with the tooth. But get treated
anyway that you can. Dentists are often more willing to treat an
infection than ENTs.
