Several days on Omnicef 300mg 2x pd, not doing much . I continue to
wait on the Rx people for the gammunex 250ml infusion I was getting .
They are having to  deal with new carrier ( Anthem).

5 weeks past when I usually dose . Getting worse. Amazing and
frightening. Without these infusions, apparently, the antibiotics cant
seem to cut it.

Some folks on the border of low IgG subs, not an issue. Others, it is
an issue. I am proof of that research I suppose.

duke,

so sorry to hear that.  do you have any idea of a time frame about
when you may be able to resume the infusions, or is it totally stalled
& open-ended due to the insurance switch?  are they trying to deny the
treatment or is it other administrative stuff?

wish you better luck & hope you start to feel better,
ellen

Hi Ellen,

Great news.
I infused today ! Suddenly, after three weeks, they got it through.
The infusion folks had the Rx ready to go. Only takes me an hour-75
mins or so .

Yesterday was not as bad as the day before, possibly Omnicef finally
getting somewhere.

Anyway, I will take the extra antigen juice as long as I can get it.

When I have sinusitis, I really am sick. To me, it is disabling .
Anyone with a physical labor job I should think is incapacitated. Or
those on their feet all day ( nurses, docs, anyone...). This is a
tough disease. As if you dont know !

duke - that's great news!  i think most of us here understand how
disabling this can be.  i'm just so glad to hear that you were able to
resume treatment & that you are starting to feel better.  hope it
continues.
best,
ellen

Duke,
I'm very happy for you that you're starting IVIG again.

When I have sinusitis, I really am sick. To me, it is disabling .

Your story is my story also.  When I have a sinus infection, I get
extremely weak, severe headache, can't think straight...
It is disabling and incapacitating.  I am a nurse and work 12hr shifts
in a hospital.  I missed 4wks of work in Oct due to severe sinus
infection that started with a cold.  I got Vanco every 12hr IV x3wks
and high dose steriods.  I know some of my coworkers have thought "its
just a sinus infection".  There is no way "normal" people can
understand what we go thru until they experience it themselves.  One
coworker said to me a few yrs ago before my 4th sinus surgery (a
bilateral frontal trephination), "I think you just want some time off
from work".  (which I ended up with a bad infection and severe
headache and bronchitis thus receiving IV Rocephin for 3 wks)  Yes
what enjoyable time off from work.

I am still hoping I can get IVIG.  My ID Dr is trying again - my IGg
level is 520 (200 less than 6 month ago).  I have been so tired - no
energy.  Half the time I feel like I have a low grade flu.  I hope I
get qualified now for IVIG since my values are a lot lower.  I have
also contacted the State Insurance Investigater.  I've been getting
pretty down lately from not feeling good and from extreme frustration
with insurance but I am ready

I've been ordering a lot of quantitative IgG levels, and finding all
sorts of things: one patient has NO IgG2 or 4.
I've also been finding that it stumps the experts locally: the
infectious disease people and allergists have no answers. I found a
nice patient hand out on line and it talked about some of the
rheumatologic and auto immune issues with primary immunodeficiency. I
think it's under diagnosed and grossly under treated.

Just a sinus infection. People don't get it: if you're on IV
antibiotics you're very ill.

Here's an eMedicine article on IgG deficiency.

Here is another good read :

http://www.emedicine.com/PED/topic190.htm

Interestingly, I never really am clear of sinusitis , even when I am
on the infusions. However,, my energy levels do rise dramatically
within 12 hours of infusing.

While the infection seems way down, if that makes sense, it never
seems I am symtomatically free. There are still occassional bits of
green when I rinse. I must rest ( and never regained the stamnia I
once had).

Mucus tends to thicken easily with me. I cough up thick phlegm as
well, and often it is yellow, or green.

Copius amounts of water and decent rest with a clean diet are key. The
rigors of travel are tough, car or plane.

Again though, by the fifth week that I was overdue for the infusion, I
was quite weak. The infusion is amazing.

I remain most intrigued by the information on the biofilm contained
within this forum. I would not have known what to call it, nor had I
been informed of it prior to this site. And I thought I had read
everything. Experientially though, it made instant sense to me. There
is always something in the sinus and it is like super glue. Now and
then when some of it has somehow existed, I cannot believe its
properties.

I shudder to think there are webs of this all throughout the sinuses,
yet CT scans show more or less as open and clear.

For years now my CTs have shown clear, as I became more and more
symptomatically "infected" sick, what have you.

Baffling disease.
