I was reading one of the posts here where someone had stated that he
believed "irrigation" was a waste of time, and that the steroid spray
was sufficient to maintain control of his sinusitis.   I thought I would
give this regimen a try, seen as how I was currently using both.
..So...  A few weeks ago, I cut out the irrigation, but continued to
use my flonase twice a day.

...Wouldn't you know it .... About a week later, I developed this
nagging sore throat, even though my sinuses felt relatvely clear.
Nevertheless, I couldn't shake it, so a few days later, I decided to
fire up the old water-pik again, with my Grossan adapter.
Sure enough, out flushes a bunch of yellow stuff... And now my
sore throat is gone.

..Well thanks for the tip, but evidently in my case, the water pik
irrigation system does seem to be a requirement, inspite of my regular
use of the flonase spray.   ...So it's back to business as usual.

I get a sore throat and a headache from useing Flonase.

If I use saline rinses - very few sinus infections.

If you continue using the Flonase chronically, you should expect your
sinusitis to become permanent, both from the HPA/immunosuppression by
the spray and the cilia death caused by its preservative.

I get rebound symptoms any time I skip irrigating, too, BTW.

Different strokes for different folks.

I find irrigating and flonase or rhinocort (one squirt each side daily)  to
work just fine for me. I have much fewer sinusitis symptoms now than prior
to my using an inhaled steroid. Allergy desensitization also helped.   AW
