Avelox is a newer antibiotic that I had thought was supposed to be reserved
for pneumonia. Not sure if just 5 days will help you but it might. AW

hope the avelox is helping. when i infected in the spring, i started
with amoxycillin, then augmentin, then doxycline, & finally about 24
days of avelox. but it thought avelox was one of the last lines of
attack, rather than the first. & 5 days sounds brief. i had to pay
out of pocket as well & the cost was painful but not as painful as the
misery of the infection.
re: allergy shots - i had 2 years of them about a decade ago & had no
real improvement even though i tested positive for almost everything.
based on that, my current ent didn't think another round of shots
would help, but the opinion of most of the folks here was to give it
another try. which i will probably do if i can get some other health
stuff stabilized 1st. & finances, since allergy desensitization is
not covered by my health insurance.
good luck.
