I don't think it's me -- yet -- but I'm considering #5, for a blocked
left sphenoid that's making me miserable in all the usual ways. The
other surgeries occurred over a 12 year period and involved other
sinus cavities. They helped to varying degrees, but I still suffer
from chronic sinusitis.

Here's my question: is there a risk involved -- could this make me
worse? Or do some of you get endoscopic surgery periodically to make
this condition easier to live with?

I am aware of the "empty nose" syndrome and have discussed it with my
ENT doctor. (Not the same one who did surgeries #1, 2 and 3.) He said
he removes minimal tissue to guard against this.

Dr. Robert Ivker said he knows one patient who had 14 sinus surgeries.

There's always a risk with any FESS procedure.  Complications, things
can go wrong, etc.
