Between the regular Biaxin and Rhinocort usage it is certainly possible that
you have candida or thrush. Does you tongue burn or feel hot? feel like you
are coming down with a sore throat? Have small sores in the mouth or tongue
that feel similar to a newly developed canker sore? If some or all of this
is true then it is possible that you have gotten your beneficial bacteria
out of balance and now have thrush/candida.
Whether you need to quit the biaxin and rhinocort while you treat the thrush
is something that a physician would have to tell you. If it was me, at a
minimum I would back off the dosage for both and cut back to no more than
half your current dosage. You may need to stop both for a while - I do not
know. I'd also stop the H2O2 and peridex until you had cured the mouth
problem. I do know that using nystatin internally along with any other
antibiotic can kill off the bacteria in your digestive system and put you at
risk of clostridium.
Get an RX for USP Nystatin powder which comes in a 22 gram bottle. You will
have to order this as most phamacies will not carry it. Keep it
refrigerated - not frozen. This is powerful stuff so be careful with your
intake or you can really throw your bacteria balance off plus make yourself
sick at the stomach. Be very careful about only using a clean utensil to
remove about a quarter tsp or less of the powder and mix in 3-4 oz. of
water. The powder is yellow and tastes kinda like cardboard. Take one
mouthful and swish around in mouth and if possible gargle without
swallowing. Repeat. Do this 3-4 times daily for a week and if you have
thrush your mouth should feel better after only a couple days. This is how
to treat superficial thrush. While you are doing this lay off any juices,
drinks containing corn sweeteners and any other high sugar foods or drinks.
A 22 gram bottle of Nystatin will last you for months even if you need to
continue treatment daily.
To treat systemic candida you would start swallowing some of the mixture
after rinsing. This internal consumption will initially cause yeast die off
which can make you very ill for a few days if you are full of yeast or still
eating sugary foods. Treating candida to my mind is very different than
treating thrush which is often a minor thing. I'm not going to get into how
to treat candida because like you say this is a very controversial subject.
If you decide you have candida you have lots of personal research to do
before jumping into treating the systemic candida. AW

Sore throat-yes. Sores on the tongue--yes. However, as mentioned, the sores
don't look like the pictures I've seen and descriptions I've read about
thrush. There is no white coating.
As mentioned, I've also felt chilled a lot in the last couple weeks, even
when the weather is hot. Sometimes a slight fever, not always. Can that also
be a symptom of candida?
Perhaps it's a virus I have, rather than candida. Viruses can cause cold
sores, no? But colds don't usually last over two weeks, as this has. (If
it's a virus the gargling with peroxide and Listerine is probably a good
thing.)
I really don't know. Just wondering, due to the tongue sores, and the
duration, whether it might be candida.

You can't always look at internet photos as good comparison photos because
they tend to use severe cases of whatever for their photo examples. Thrush
will usually not improve by itself. If you post back in two weeks with the
same or worsening throat symptoms, then you probably do have thrush. A Dr
could probably tell you for sure with a glance. AW

I saw a doctor today about the condition. He looked in my mouth (now there's
sores on my lip as well as the tongue), and said it was not thrush, because
thrush involves those white patches, which as I said, one doesn't see in my
mouth.
Since it has lasted two and a half weeks now, he doesn't think it's just a
virus. Therefore, he thinks it's a bacterial infection, and prescribed me
ten days of Levaquin.
I hope it works. This certainly doesn't seem like the bacterial (sinus)
infections I normally get. My nose isn't any worse than my usual rhinitis,
the phlegm is mostly clear, etc. Seems more viral, but it's lasting long for
a viral infection. Let's hope this works.
I guess I can go back to the anti-infective gargles, etc.

*I use steroid spray on an as-needed basis over long term and find it very
effective for treatment of symptoms. I also use Loratidine (Claritin) which
seems to lessen the mucus quantity slightly.

*I had a mildew smell in my nose for about two years until about a week
after I started probiotics.

*It could be thrush or it could also be virus lesions which I get maybe once
a year usually only one or two spots in back of throat, with slight fever.
It only lasts a week or so and goes away. The virus lesions are slightly
sore though.

*With long term antibiotic use you are killing of a lot of good and bad
bacteria so it's very difficult to maintain (normal) balance. I can't tell
you what to do but bacteria can evolve over time and come back to bite you
harder with resistant strains.
I did only a ten day antibiotic which didn't have any noticeable effect.
The steroid spray is the most effective for me, but the cause of sinusitis
can vary a great deal, I also have nasal polyps.

*I think that there might be a blood test for candida which is much less
trouble than trying to treat it with diet because if you're anything like me
there is no way I can eliminate sugar and the other yeast feeding foods.
