There is a support group for asthma and COP (lung) online.
They are so nice there and have a lot of info.

Many (though not all) allergists also treat asthma and can do their own basic asthma tests--spirometry where they measure the effectiveness of your breathing. My allergist does all that, and I'm sure you can find one in your area too--ask. But it's not definitive; significant percentage of both false positives and false negatives.
The "gold standard" test for asthma is the methacholine provocation test, which in my experience is only done in a fairly well-equipped hospital. Much fewer false positives or false negatives. It's great for detecting so-called "cough-variant asthma," in which the patient is coughing like crazy but has no signficant breathing difficulty. It's often done in the pulmonary laboratory rather than in the allergy laboratory, in which case you will probably need to consult a pulmonologist to get it scheduled:
