Had a complicated root canal in May(about 7 weeks ago). Had a courae of 1
week clindamycin(allergic to pcn/cipro)during the treatment. About a month
later had pain in the tooth area and since I was going abroad my dentist
gave me another course. This cleared it up. Now I have pressure/pain under
that cheekbone/smell in nose but no discharge from it. Had both dentist and
endodontist check tooth-no signs of infection. They suggested sinus. My
plan is to call my ent tomorrow. Any other ideas?
The only real sinus problem I had was from Zicam where I lost my sense of
smell and the ENT treated it with m\Medrol Dosepack(it helped). No
environmental allergies I am aware of.

"We have started seeing an increasing amount of dental disease causing
sinusitis. This can be as a result of the root of a molar becoming
infected, the remnant of a tooth which was previously partially removed,
or bony like material in the base of the sinus. This can be very
difficult to treat and often requires a skilled dentist as well as a
sinus specialist. Sometimes there can also be a communication between
the mouth and the sinuses as a result of previous dental work."

Saw my ent today. Saw absolutely no sign of inflammation with the
endoscope. Coronal sinus x-rays are planned but he does not think it's
from my sinuses. Interestingly, I have no symptoms at night or when I
first wake up. In the meantime he recommended NSAIDS because he thinks
it's the jaw muscle that was strained from so mich dental work. (It's true
that, that muscle was sore right after the procedures because that tooth
was very hard to reach since it is the last one on the top;I have a small
mouth.

I noticed something else: my tear duct along that side of the nose seems
sore. Does that square with sinus?

Worse is that some of the materials the dentists use is showing up in the
maxillary sinus.

And even worse yet is that some of the materials the dentists use can
cause allergic reactions. That happened to me once too, with eugenol:
