I read several time about risks for the lungs if something oily
goes to the lungs.
But I'm wondering:
What is the difference if I put let's say sunflowers oil in my sinuses or
just drink it ?

If you drink it, you excrete it through your digestive tract.  If you
inhale it, it goes into your lungs and stays there.

I have used olive oil and coconut oil in my nasal wash many times with
NO problem.
Under normal circumstances do you inhale your nasal wash into your
lungs?
You would know it, you would have an intense coughing fit if you did.

Well, I know that sometimes after irrigating some stuff
drips into my lungs because I end up coughing it out. However,
I can't say how much is solution and how much is mucus.
