Susan,
I agree, it is a horror movie. Reminds me somewhat, albeit far less
intensely, of "Requiem for a Dream", a movie (and book) where
addiction is really the leading character, although not in any fantasy
role. No need for monster and slasher movies when there's far more
horror in watching what ordinary people do to themselves, or what is
done to them by other ordinary people with an agenda of their own
(i.e. doctors, alternative healers, etc.) Does she make herself sick
or is it being done to her? Or is it both? As you know, I had to go
through hell and almost one unnecessary surgery before I found that
immunotherapy works for me, yet I still wonder how long that will
last. It's a bit like looking over my shoulder, even though I
appreciate the string of healthy days and weeks I didn't have for a
couple of years.
Still, when I have a dry cough that seems not to come from my previous
symptoms, I wonder if it's stress-induced or from my allergies. Or
both?
Yes, "Safe" is a horror movie, indeed.
