I am Missing Frontal Sinuses! Help?

I just found out yesterday that I have no frontal sinuses (from an x-
ray) I went to urgent care to see what was going on with my cold, I
had a fever for over 8 days ranging from 99.9 to 104 and it never
seemed to break. I was put on amoxicillin 7 days before the trip to
urgent care. But to make sure it was a sinus infection my doc took an
x-ray of my head. And when he came back into the room he had this
weird/stunned/puzzled look on his face. I was like what's up? He said
he had never seen this except in medical books. And told me that not
only do I not have a sinus infection but I have no sinuses in my
forehead and my other sinuses are clear. I was shown a diagram of
where your sinuses are and then shown the x-ray, it was really weird.

So then he looked into my mouth and then looked in my ears. I had told
him about some migraines that I had had on and off since the fever
started on the side of my head thro my ear to my jaw (I have had
migraines since I was 13) but sure enough I have a bad ear infection
in both my ears causing the migraine-like pain. So how I am on
Ciprodex 2 times a day for 7 days. Hehe I am 26 with bad ear
infections, thought only kids got ear infections. hehe

But I guess I can call some of my old neurologist that told me I was
having frontal sinus headaches and not migraines that they are wrong,
even though I knew they where wrong when they told me. hehe

I have never had a bloody nose and I wonder if this is why and if
there might be any adverse side effects of not having frontal sinuses?
Anyone know? My doc's don't seem to know anything about this other
then it being a rare Turkish Genetic trait, but then again I am
Swedish (as far as I know, hehe)

Any information anyone finds out, I would love to hear.

Thank you!

A friend of mine is missing her left frontal sinus.  It's a rare though
not uncommon anatomical variant.  But her sinuses are perfectly healthy
and she has no sinus symptoms whatsoever.

IIRC, we are born without frontal sinuses.  They first appear when we're
toddlers, and they have to grow to their full size as we grow to
adulthood.  In some people, they never do.  Even in most adults, one is
typically significantly larger than the other.

I wouldn't worry about the lack of frontal sinuses.  You can be healthy
without them, and plenty of folks have sinusitis even with them.

Most caees of sinusitis can be traced to trouble in the maxillary and
ethmoid sinuses.  If those are kept clear, you should be in good shape.

You have an infection somewhere.
Weather your ostemeatal complex shows blockage on an x-ray or not,
an ear infection with a fever of 104 for several days is menengetis in
the making!!!!

If you are not better, and your GP is not doing anything, go to the
emergency room.

Hey
my name is John. I found out a year ago i don't have any frontal
sinuses. about that turkish thing i don't know because i am 100%
Colombian so yeah. but i found this out when i had a MRI done to look
at my optic nerves because apparently i have large optic nerves too.
anyways today it actually occured to me to look it up on the internet
and this was the only thing i found. you say you have migranes thats
relatively common with me too. this is going to be random but i am
very much into psychology and i do plenty of research at the
university i'm attending. it occured to me this could possibly be an
interesting research topic. i understand if you don't want to disclose
any information but do you have any psychological history? the
migranes i can vouch for too but i'm just interested in maybe any
other possible psychological factors that could be side effects or
causes for this unknown trait. my dad is a radiologists and he said
without frontal sinuses we actually have a small amount of extra gray
matter which is an important aspect of cognitive functioning. so just
curious . . just contact me if you want to reply. thanks for your
time.

John
