I've looked up everything to see what's wrong with me and I can't find
a single thing; my doctor couldn't either. I don't know if it's simply
a sinus infection, but it's painful and I've had it for about four
weeks now, maybe even more.
When I breathe in through my nose, it feels like one straight stream
of air hitting the back of my throat. Think about after you blow your
nose when it's stuffy or running and you can breathe in really well--
too well--and the air just hits the top/back of your throat. Well it's
basically like that 24/7 for me. I feel like the air isn't... shifting
in my nose or going through my sinuses, it's just one straight sniff
from my nostril to my throat. I feel like some of my sinus openings
might be closed so the air doesn't go in them, unless air doesn't
actually go into sinuses, but I don't know.
Well whatever it is, it's very debilitating and interrupts my daily
life because of the pain it causes (drys out throat and the unclean
air irritates it [my throat]). I'd just like to know what it is,
whether it's a menial infection or a huge thing I need surgery for. I
just need to know there's a cure so I don't have to live with it
everyday the rest of my life.

1. Print this out.
2. Go see a physician and give him or her your print out.
3. Let us know what he or she says.

Are you saying that your airway is not blocked,
but it is RAW so that it hurts to breathe?

Look up empty nose syndrome
judy.n - 27 Mar 2007 18:14 GMT
Empty nose syndrome is when the turbinates and sinus structure have
been so altered/removed that they no longer serve their function to
humifidy and create tuburlent air currents: so you feel a jet of air
that hasn't been swirled, humidified, had contaminants removed--
because the nasal structures are missing. It's usually a result of
over-zealous surgery. The only help for it is frequent nasal saline/
nasal gels.
You haven't said if you've had surgery before.
