Ciclesonide? (and other new rhinitis meds)

Ciclesonide is a new inhaled steroid that is supposed to be very effective,
with less systemic absorption than the others. It was approved by the FDA
last year, including a nasal spray version to have the brand name "Omnaris".

Does anyone know when this will actually be on the market in the US? (I
think it is already available in Europe.)

Also, there is supposed to be a new antihistamine nasal spray to come on the
market (to add to the only current one, Astelin), using the same
antihistamine that is in the eye drops Patanol. Anyone know when that will
be available?

Also, does anyone have news on what happened /will happen to Nasacort HFA?
It is a new aerosol version (CFC-free) of Nasacort. Approved by the FDA
almost three years ago, in April 2004, but AFAIK never yet came to market.
What happened to it?

Here in The Netherlands Ciclesonide is only released as Asthma medicin. It
must be inhaled. It is not a medicine for Sinusitis.

In the US it is supposed to become available in both forms, an asthma
inhaler and a nasal spray. You are ahead with the asthma inhaler. Perhaps
the nasal spray will come out there the same time it does here.

So, does it basically work as an anti-histamic?

No, a steroid nasal spray (Flonase, Nasonex, Rhinocort, etc.) is not an
antihistamine.

There is one antihistamine nasal spray on the market (Astelin), and as I
wrote, there seems to be another in development, not yet available. But
that's not the ciclesonide, which is a steroid inhaler and nasal spray,
neither available yet in the US.
