After a six month relapse and a 2 bottles of Flonaise I searched the net for
whether blowing and sniffing too much would aggravate my sinuses.  It seems
to be a little controversial - some say "Don't blow if you have a cold ,only
sniff" another said "Don't blow or sniff too hard"  The latter made more
sense to me.  So , I went a whole day with very little blowing or sniffing.
That made a big difference.  My nose is almost completely clear for the
first time in over six months.  I'm sure that everyone can't be helped with
something as simple as that but I tried almost everything that I could read
about or think of and it didn't seem to get rid of my noon to midnight thick
yellow discharge.  The last time I was breathing this freely was when I
started irrigating with sea salt solution and that worked for about two
months , but the same old condition came back.
I'll let you all know if after a few days if I spoke too soon.
Thanks to all who post because it's a help knowing that some have it even
worse than me.   I have extreme anxiety about surgery especially after
reading about all the possible horrifying outcomes.

Blowing your nose hard is exactly the same as rubbing your eye too hard.
Sniffing is done at an incorrect pressure and is one of the causes of ear
problems.
If you must blow your nose it must be both sides open and at a low pressure
- very gently.

Please define low pressure gently - happens to be 5 PSI. That is the
pressure that the Hydro Pulse gives when the stream is about one inch high.

Good advice--I now treat my very delicate nasal passages gently.  Also ,
humidity at less than 40% reeks havoc on my nose and swells it shut in a
matter of minutes.  Plus , while dusting and vacuuming , I wear a dust mask.
Question-- does any major drug stores have a water-pic attachment?  Thanks
for the feedback.. Oh.. My infection hasn't cleared up yet ,  just try not
to blow or sniff any more than necessary.  I have a feeling that it's a
fungus , because everything smells like mildew.

Believe me... The hard nose blowing is one of the toughest habits to
break.  I've been aware for years of the consequences of such actions.
..But yet. I still find myself doing it from time to time -- usually
out of frustration.  ...And then the problems start.   ..Jon

You are right. The Hydro Pulse is used to train persons   correct pressure
of nasal blowing. I previously spent time trying to teach the macho scuba
divers they were blowing too hard. Now the irrigaotor at 5 PSI shows them
the correct pressure, etc.
