Hi there,
I'm a 34 year old male with a long history of allergies and asthma,
also have had nasal polyps in the past. For the past 4 days or so I've
had a lot of thick, yellow-green mucous in my nasal passages with
streaks of blood and have been blowing my nose day and night I went to
my GP yesterday, as I was worried about the blood, and he put me on
antibiotics, thinking that I might have some sort of bacterial
infection. Anyway, this morning I blew my nose pretty hard and there
was this small piece of liver textured and colored tissue covered in
blood which came out in the kleenex I used. Could it be that I blew
out a nasal polyp? I haven't had any blood in my mucous since.

HI, i used to get a lot of bleeding noses before if had septoplasty and
polyps removed a few months back. My nose would bleed until i blew out
the lump of blood that had formed and then would stop bleeding shortly
after. Although i haven't had a bleeding nose since the operation, i
still get streaks of blood in my mucus like i used to before the op and
it cant be related to the polpys because they were removed. I also know
that if i have a stuffy nose and blow it constantly or just hard, that
sometimes makes it bleed. Sometimes if i blow out a lump of blood that
is mixed with mucus, it looks a bit like the way you described it so i
if i were you i wouldnt' be worried.

Well, it's happened to me two or three times since my polyps started. I
guess occasionally a polyp isn't very well connected, and just lets loose.
I wish they all would be like that!
