Might this NOT be a sinus problem at all

Main symptom has been miserable sore throat, sick feeling, fatigue.
Long-term antibiotics work but then it comes back immediately. When I look
at my throat it looks very sore: red with white patches in tonsils area (I
had a tonsilectomy 50 years ago as a very young child -- I think some tissue
has grown back). How doI know if this is sinus driven or perhaps tonsillitis
that is not due to sinusitis.

I think it is time for you to see an ENT.  He/she could evaluate both
the throat and the sinuses.

I second that.  At the very least, you'll come out with a medical
diagnosis and hopefully a course of treatment you and your doctor (or
even another doctor if you don't agree with the diagnosis) can work
with.

For me, I may/may not be getting over my newest infection.  Right now,
it's a toss up.  It's the first one since I started allergy shots (2 at
2x a week) in July.  I took 15 days worth of Biaxin XL.  I still don't
feel 100%, so I'm taking some P.C.E. 300 that I had left over from a
previous Rx.  At least I'm not so weak like I was a couple of weeks ago
when I couldn't go to work.  I'm back working out at the gym 3x a week.

Yesterday was the last of my twice a week shots.  They really must load
up on the serum by now because my right arm has been really sore since
yesterday; my left not so much.  So, from now on, it's once a week for
3 more weeks, then once every other week, then a visit to the allergist
for evaluation.  I'm concerned that this latest infection mimics the
other ones I have, and that Biaxin XL has been slow to act, and that I
may not actually be over it.

I've seen many people tout Augmentin.  I think that's one I haven't
tried.  Opinions?  The only antibiotic that I've taken that I know
works is Levaquin, but doctors seem to prescribe that sparingly.

I'm on Avelox now, 2nd 10 day prescription.  Now that the ENT kicked in
a prednisone 'script, I'm getting better.  The sinus infection symptoms
have calmed down and now I'm more nauseated from the Avelox.  It's not
too bad, it does give me headache with some dizziness.

I was on Augmentin last year and I had a horrible time with it.  Didnt
work and turned my gut upside down.  Had terrible reflux which
convinced the ENT that I had LPR...

I HATE Augmentin. That's the only abx. I had to totally discontinue as it
wreaked havoc with my gut (major D).
