Headaches

Hi folks,

Of all the years I had infection after infection, I was spared
headaches.  Until now.  I'm on day 6 or so of Biaxin XL, and still
don't feel like I'm better, and my headache (the pain felt primarily
on the right side above my eyebrows, my right eye socket, and my upper
right nostril) is dull, oppressive, aching.  The headache's been going
on for 3 days.  I've irrigated, and that doesn't help.  I've taken
behind-the-counter Sudafed, and that only helps a little.  I've been
taking Ultracet for the pain.

I cancelled getting a flu shot today, because I didn't want to take
the chance of having a reaction. I skipped my allergy shot just
because.  According to the CDC, it's ok to get a flu shot if you have
just a mild illness, but moderate to severe is not.  Who knows what
category I'm in (he asks rhetorically).  Since I've never had
headaches with sinusitis before, I wonder if this could actually be
the flu.  It's been over 10 years since I've had it, and I don't have
a fever, but I don't know.  All I know it's one long, boring dull
aching sinus headache, with the sometimes stinging pain inside my
sinuses.

If I'm not better tomorrow, I'll go see either my GP (closer and
easier to get in) or my ENT (farther away and who knows if he's
booked.)

Anyone have any experiences with this type of headache?

Yes, me ... and the 'doctors' think it's a form of atypical TGN.
(not a headache)

You may have had an infection that inflammed part of one of
the trigeminal nerve branches in the areas you so named. I don't
know your history, but I have/had those exact syptoms but
only worse ... I get spasm-snaps inside my nose, underneath
right eye, and back towards right ears when laying down to rest.
(no pain, though ... but I can't sleep without meds)

Without knowing your history and assuming you don't have an
infection, (rather, an after effect) you might need some
anti-inflammatory compound, or nerve block. Try a blast
of prednisone. 7+6+5+4+3+2+2 ....

I hope it's a treatable infection and not the other.

Oh dear me, when I get one like that I take Aleve for days is the only
thing that helps me. 4 pills a day.

My head would hurt from morning to night, and it hurt just to hold my
head up.
I could not do any chores around the house .
