Reading other threads, I know that my "house could be killing me". I
moved to a new apartment a week ago, ironically in part to move away
from my old decrepit apartment and all the possible allergens. The new
place has new carpet and paint.
For the past week, I've had dizziness, fatigue, facial discomfort and
occassional nausea and inner ear itchiness. But I've not had
discolored discharge nor a overwhelming amount of PND. I've narrowed
it down to the following:
I've been doing a lot of cleaning and dusting with a heavy does of
lysol and bleach. So it could be just chemical and dust overload.
My Grossan has conked out (after only a year...that's another
thread...) and I've been using my travel Neilmed exclusively. I wonder
if I may have squeezed the bottle a little too vigourously and pushed
water into unintended places. Because of the lack of mucos symptoms,
I'm leaning towards an ear infection problem. I've never had an ear
infection, not that I can remember, so I'm not sure if I've got it
right. If so, should I lay off the irrigation?

With brand new carpeting and new plywood walls, and using the heater, you
can get formaldehyde vapors. That could be a cause of headache, dizzyness,
shortness of breath. Try openng windows when you can to ventilate the rooms.

Thanks Doc. The first couple of days in the apartment were pretty
overwhelming though I've only had the heater on rarely. It's been
surprisingly warm lately. I'll try the ventilation tip for now and see
what happens.
Meanwhile, is taking a decongestant advised? My head and face aches
and I'm hoping drainage will help.

Things took a turn for the worse today and I was lucky enough to get an
appointment with an ENT. Verdict is sinus infection. Ten days of
Avelox, once a day 400mg. I haven't had much discolored discharge but
the ENT saw it in my nasal passages and down my throat.
Oh well. I was hoping to avoid antibiotics but the symptoms were
unbearable this morning. Is it okay to keep taking Advil Sinus and
Cold while I'm on Avelox?

The good news is that Avelox is a lot easier on my tummy than
Augmentin. The bad news is that I'm not feeling a whole lot better.
Ent extended my prescription of Avelox for ten more days and also
prescribed Prednisone.
>From what I've read here, I think the reasoning is that Prednisone will
help with the inflammation and allow the antibiotics to work...
