As a warning to others ...

I have developed a serious middle ear infection as a result
of irrigation wherein the solution got into my maxillary sinus,
then traveled up the eustachian tube into my middle ear and
has become infected, behind my ear drum.

the maxillary sinus does not connect with the eustachian tube which opens
into the pharynx to drain down the throat and fluid in the maxillary would
not cause your problem. If you irrigate aggressively and/or move your head
too much from  'eyes facing the plughole' position you can get fluid
entering the Eustachian.Another cause  can be swallowing or coughing
whilst irrigating, do it gently and you should be OK. Ihope your ear
clears up OK it should by about 2 weeks

YIKES!!! ... that means that pulsed nasal irrigation is even
more dangerous than I thought, because it's even easier to
get water up there in behind the ear drum.

Incredible.

Anyhow ... Levaquin 500 mg. and Sudafed PE ... symptoms in
ear disappearing on 2nd day.

Now, back to work on these nocturnal, aytypical trigeminal
neuralgia-like symptoms from hell that won't let me sleep
without meds. I would'nt be suprised if it is a long brewing
infection that has been cooking for several years in septum
and skull bone and ENTs have not cultured it correctly.
Just a WAG, though.
