The other night I got no sleep (stomach pains from the biaxin XL I'm on and
just developing general sleep problems as I age).
Needless to say, the next day I felt terrible. Once again, despite being on
biaxin, I had terrible sinuses, sore threat, sweats/chills/fatigue etc.
So last night I took ambien. I slept MUCH better and feel MUCH better today,
With these sibus problems (for me) so tuned in to sleep, I may reluctantly
have to take ambien regularly (worried about addictive possibilities here,
however).
Anyone else doing that? Comments?

Ambien isn't addictive if you don't take it for more than a couple of
weeks or so. The extended-release form, Ambien CR, is probably even
safer. Lunesta, another similar drug, has been approved by the FDA for
long-term use (I don't know if Ambien CR has).
An even safer and non-addictive soporific is sex till orgasm is reached.
Don't laugh. It works.

Alternate days ... one night Ambien ... another night Valium ... another Lunesta, etc.
Also, aerobic excersize and meditation will help you sleep. Focus on your breath
when you are trying to sleep (when not on meds) and don't let your mind wonder.

My husband only gets 10 pills for a 30 day supply of Ambien.
He is alternating with Lunesta and Tylenol PM. This is helping him to
sleep.
His MD only prescribed Ambien for 2 months.
The clerk at the drugstore told us to ask for Ambien CR. That is what
she uses and she gets pills for 30 days.

I've found Ambien CR to be totally ineffective.
No effect whatsoever. Don't know why.
